The Challenge

The institution's network was built over several years without a cohesive security strategy. Multiple unmanaged access points, flat network architecture, and outdated firmware created significant security vulnerabilities. Student and administrative systems shared the same network segment, and there was no intrusion detection capability.

Our Solution

NIFTECH conducted a comprehensive network assessment and implemented a multi-phase hardening project. We redesigned the network architecture with proper segmentation, deployed managed firewalls, implemented 802.1X authentication, upgraded all network devices to current firmware, and deployed a network-based intrusion detection system. We also established ongoing monitoring and maintenance procedures.

Results

The institution achieved a 95% reduction in unauthorized network access attempts, complete separation of student and administrative networks, real-time threat detection capability, and compliance with educational data protection requirements. Staff reported improved network performance and reliability.
